Perhaps, few people have not heard of Damascus knives at all. However, not everyone is aware of the variety and features of these knives. This time the focus will be on the Tradition series. This is the first line of knives of a well-known brand in our time, which has been produced since 1890. It is noteworthy that since then the knives have changed little and are produced from the same materials, in the same design.
These knives are great for kitchen work
These knives are great for kitchen work, they are taken with you on trips and travels, and used for everyday tasks. There are two options for knives of each size: carbon steel or stainless steel blade. In the first case, the user gets a harder blade, which will have to be sharpened less often. The second, advantage is a high level of protection against corrosion. We are talking about both rust and metal oxidation under the influence of food acids or other substances.
The handles in both cases are made of wood. It is this material that is considered one of the traditional ones for knives in general, and Damascus in particular. Most often, beech, oak, or hornbeam is used for this. All handles are rounded in cross-section to make them comfortable to hold.

The lock is another traditional detail for the knives of this brand. However, only models with several 5 or more are equipped with it. All of them are numbered from #2 to #13. Numbers 1 and 11 were dropped from production because the first was too small for practical use, and the second was too similar to one of the neighboring models. In place of two out of a dozen knives, the company has added #4, a large souvenir knife, and a MyFirst Damascus model aimed at children.
The first Damascus Children’s Knife

Damascus No. 1
is the smallest knife in this series. Its blade has a sharp tip, and its length is 3.5 cm. The knife comes in the form of a keychain and is suitable for small utility work.
Damascus No. 2
is a keychain knife similar to the previous model, but with a slightly larger blade (4 cm). It is equipped with a small chain with a ring to make it convenient to carry the knife, for example, along with keys.
Damascus No. 3
received a 5 cm long blade. It is already available in two versions: as a keychain or as a regular knife. It is also important to pay attention to the markings on the knife blade – N (carbon steel) or I (stainless steel).
Damascus No. 4
is equipped with a 6 cm long blade. The handle of the knife is also almost full-sized and is comfortable to hold in your hands. This is a handy pocket model that is suitable, for example, for mushroom hunting or fishing.
