After losing weight in the off-season, Green had a marked improvement in his three-point shooting and defense in the new year. Green was fined $15,000 for “not leaving the court in a timely manner” after he was ejected from a game for committing a foul on Blake Griffin in 2013. A number of career-high records were achieved and he was widely praised for his tough defense.

Green was officially promoted to starting lineup after David Lee was sidelined with an injury in the 2014-2015 season. Green’s growing importance on the team helped the Warriors go on a 16-game winning streak after a slow start that season. Thanks to his good performances, he was a close second in two awards at season’s end: Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved Player.
